LAS
VEGAS 69ERS
|
|
drafted
|
Andrew
Luck (qb); Brian Quick (wr); Josh Gordon (wr); Ryan
Lindley (qb); Vick Ballard (rb) |
summary
|
During
the offseason the 69ers obviously knew their weakness
at the qb position and they've addressed it since
- first trading for Andy Dalton and now making a great
trade to acquire Eli Manning (after selection Andrew
Luck #1 overall!). They then acquired another QB (Ryan
Lindley) at the end of the 3rd Rd. The two-for-one
trade for #13 (Brian Quick) may have been a bit much
for a franchise with an extremely low roster size,
but Josh Gordon could be a steal at #18. |

UNITED
|
|
drafted
|
Robert
Griffin III (qb); Stephen Hill (wr); Alshon Jeffrey
(wr); AJ Jenkins (wr); Rob Housler (te) |
summary
|
Robert
Griffin III should turn into a great pick for this
franchise at #2. United then turned to improving thier
weak WR depth taking excellent value picks of Stephen
Hill (#12), Alshon Jeffrey (#19), and AJ Jenkins (#21).
Rob Housler is an intriguing project TE and a great
pick in the 4th Rd. |

LOS
ANGELES LAKE SHOW
|
|
drafted
|
Doug
Martin (rb); Coby Fleener (te); Kendall Wright (wr);
Bernard Pierce (rb); Kendall Wright (wr) |
summary
|
Lake
Show needed to address their TE and RB positions and
they did so in a big way through the draft (via both
picks and trades). The acquisition of Jason Witten
is huge for this team and they now have some strong
depth at TE with Coby Fleener (and offseason acquisition
Kellen Winslow). Doug Martin could become an instant
starter for this team and Isaac Redman was a smart
handcuff selection. |

OUTER
BANKS LIGHTNING
|
|
drafted
|
David
Wilson (rb); Michael Egnew (te); Rashad Jennings (rb) |
summary
|
With
no 1st Rd pick, Lightning didn't have a vital draft
but they were very smart with their selections - notably
handcuffing their current RB's with the picks of David
Wilson and Rashad Jennings. With Tony Gonzalez playing
in his final season, they looked to build some youth
at the TE position taking Michael Egnew. Needing WR's
the team made a good investment move in acquiring
Jerome Simpson for a 4th Rd pick. |

MYRTLE
BEACH 328'S
|
|
drafted
|
Brandon
Weeden (qb); Rueben Randle (wr); Matt Prater (k) |
summary
|
After
taking Brandon Weeden and Rueben Randle at #7 and
#8, 328's traded their next two picks (#10 and #13)
for good value (Darrius Heyward-Bey plus a 2nd and
3rd Rd pick in 2013). 328's have had great success
drafting QB's so the pick of Weeden is worth watching. |

TUCSON
A II P
|
|
drafted
|
Ronnie
Hillman (rb); Marvin Jones (wr); Donald Brown (rb);
Nate Kaeding (k) |
summary
|
The
trade of Darrius Heyward-Bey may have been mostly
out of salary, but also postional needs, as they selected
Ronnie Hillman at #10. That might be another RB over-draft
for this team, but they may have found a steal with
3rd Rd pick Marvin Jones, as well as Donald Brown
(who they acquired in a swap of 3rd Rd picks). |

H
|
|
drafted
|
Michael
Floyd (wr); Ryan Tannehill (qb); Lamar Miller (rb);
Russell Wilson (qb); Evan Royster (rb) |
summary
|
H
made the surprise of the draft trading away Jason
Witten for a 2nd Rd pick (Ryan Tannehill) and a 4th
in 2013. I think much of that had to do with salary
but it seems as though Witten's value should be higher
then that? I'm sure DC fans will be closely watching
Tannehill's progress after losing a franchise favorite
like Witten. H got some good value picks in the 3rd
Rd (Lamar Miller, and Russell Wilson). Evan Royster
was a smart pick in the 4th Rd. |

TOMCATS
|
|
drafted
|
Isaiah
Pead (rb); Mohamed Sanu (wr); LaMichael James (rb) |
summary
|
Though
it has yet to show in the standings, the Tomcats have
been a really successful drafting team the past few
years. One of the problems is injuries have hurt the
rise of many of thier young talent. This year they
looked toward safe value picks with hopes they can
stay heathly and perhaps contribute in future years.
The Tomcats will need a big year from Desean Jackson
who they traded away for the #1 pick in this draft
(Andrew Luck). |

MACUNGIE
O'S
|
|
drafted
|
Trent
Richardson (rb); Jacob Tamme (te) |
summary
|
Trent Richardson was a must-take at #3 and he should
prove to be worth that selection. With the teams only
other selection, Jacob Tamme seems a bit of a surprise
at #1 but I guess the O's assumed they are solid in
depth and youth at other positions and wanted to take
a safer pick for more instant production in 2012. |

TOLEDO
TORMENTA
|
|
drafted
|
Justin
Blackmon (wr); Greg Childs (wr) |
summary
|
I'm
not sure how the team improves by trading away Eli
Manning for #5 pick Justin Blackmon, mostly because
now they only have Kevin Kolb as a backup to Aaron
Rodgers. Greg Childs may not be a bad pick, but that
might have been a spot Tormenta should have looked
to secure the QB depth. They did trade away #29 for
a 3rd Rd pick next year which could be higher in value.
